Sample Itineraries
With Jackson serving as your base, embark on an adventure to area favorites!
Day One
Spend the morning at historic Denmark Presbyterian Church (circa 1854). Listen to riveting tales from historian Billie King as he recounts the church’s role during the battles of Shiloh and Britton Lane. Hear the stories of the Denmark Danes, a local Confederate Company that marched from Denmark church to the Battle of Shiloh, where over half were killed. Visit Britton Lane Battlefield and imagine the cries of cavalry charges and cannon fire.
Continue the day in downtown Jackson with a tour of the N.C. & St. Louis Railroad Museum, make a stop at the International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame, and visit our locally owned art galleries. Next, take in Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park, featuring a museum designed to replicate a Native American burial mound.
Leave Pinson Mounds for a delicious meal at the Old Country Store at Casey Jones Village - one of Tennessee’s top ten attractions. Spend some time in the unique shops and take a tour of Casey Jones’ home.
Day Two
Depart for Shiloh National Military Park, the site of the first major battle of the Civil War’s Western Theater. Shiloh features monuments, a museum and a visitor’s center.
After your morning at the battlefield depart for some riparian entertainment on the Pickwick Belle River Boat. Lunch will be served as you take in the beauty of the Tennessee River and invoke memories of a bygone era.
Return to Jackson and visit the ice cream parlor at the Old Country Store while you listen to the music of the Jackson Plectral Society.
Day Three
Depart Jackson for the short drive to country music legend Loretta Lynn’s ranch in quaint Hurricane Mills. Spend the morning exploring the Coal Miner’s Daughter Museum, take the Lynn’s Plantation Home Tour, and visit the mini-theater and gift shops.
Depart Loretta Lynn’s Ranch for the short drive to Birdsong Resort & Marina, the home of America’s only site of pearl culturing - The Tennessee River Freshwater Pearl Farm. Visit the farm, mini-theatre and museum, and pearl jewelry showroom.
Return to Jackson and conclude the day with a leisurely dinner and a restful night’s sleep at one of our fine hotels.
Day Four
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Jackson before departing for historic Holly Springs, Mississippi, known as “The Antebellum Capitol of the Mid-South.” Along the way, take in the breathtaking scenery on beautiful Highway 18. Stop in Grand Junction, Tennessee for a visit to the National Bird Dog Museum and Hall of Fame - a fascinating look at all breeds of sporting and retrieving dogs and a must see for all!
Arrive in Holly Springs and take pleasure in the ambiance of this beautiful and historic small town. Embark on a time travel tour of pristine antebellum homes as the tour guide takes you on a historic journey that is truly unique.
Conclude your visit with a taste of authentic Southern cuisine at Annie’s Restaurant.
